We are excited to be offering a Month Long Lomi Lomi Immersion Program at Ho'omana Spa on the island of Maui, Hawaii from September 1 - September 30, 2013. This 175 Hour Residential Retreat integrates Hawaiian healing bodywork and cultural education. Our program allows students to focus and perpetuate the sacred healing art form known as Lomi Lomi from a foundation steeped in lineage teachings of ancestral wisdom. Our program is a continuance of the values of Aloha Spirit, Ohana, Kokua, Malama and Pono; which are deeply imbedded in the Hawaiian model of wellness. This journey fosters powerful personal growth experiences and allows one to acquire an incredible set of skills that may be cultivated into a meaningful career path as a therapeutic health care professional.

Our instructors’ knowledge is passed down through a long lineage of master practitioner’s. The various lomi courses provide a learning environment with extensive and effective lomi techniques, Hawaiian philosophy of Ho’oponopono, meditation and chant. Ho’omana is dedicated to the development of each student’s mind, body and spirit while ensuring a supportive and quality learning experience that inspires transformation.

After each course we offer a clinic serving our greater Maui community. This will not only enrich your experience in service, but will assist you in integrating the work on a practical level through authentic, hands-on, therapeutic experience.

Course Includes:

Lomi Lomi Fundamentals Week (60 hours) Student will learn a full body Lomi Lomi form of massage that addresses musculsketal imbalances, limited range of motion or dysfunction that is both specific and therapeutic in it’s application. It is also the foundational work to all Lomi classes being taught at Ho’omana Spa Maui. Students will learn to use hot stones to relax muscles tissues, increase circulation and release tension in the body. These heated tools act as an extension of the therapist’s hands to administer traditional lomi lomi techniques.

Hawaiian Spa Course (16 Hours) - Master a unique system of spa treatments using from a Hawaiian healing perspective. Learn to administer dry table scrubs, wraps, facials and many more luxurious spa treatments.

Kua Lua-Hawaiian Back Walking (24 Hours) - Kua Lua is the traditional style of back walking and footwork, which you will learn to feel with your feet in the way you feel with your hands. This is an excellent form of massage for more dense clients who need additional depth in their treatment.

Hawaiian Pregnancy/Seated Lomi (24 Hours) - Pregnancy Massage and Seated Techniques. Learn to work with specific populations including prenatal, postnatal and pregnancy massage techniques in a side lying position. Learn to administer lomi techniques learned in core classes in the seated position.

Ultimate 4 Hand Lomi Lomi (24 Hrs) A special technique that is a more recent healing expression of lomi lomi. This unique experience involves two massage therapists simultaneously using traditional flowing lomi strokes, facilitating a sense of complete surrender within.

Cultural Excursions Include:

Sacred Sites Tour: Explore Maui's rich culture through legend and lore in a talk story style. We will visit the island's most sacred energetic areas. Iao Valley and various heiau (traditional Hawaiian temples) are just few sites on our tour. On this tour we will be learning about plant medicine, ritual cleansing both at the mountain and the ocean visiting sacred Heiau (Hawaiian Temples).

Stone Gathering at Wailua Nui: During your hot stone therapy course, heated implements are used as working stones on the body and are an extension of our hands. We will journey to a peaceful agricultural valley on the east side of Maui where we will learn to gather stones ceremonially with a gathering chant. This allows us the incredible opportunity to give back to the community we are gathering from by working in the taro patch.

Gathering Implements for Kua Lua: Hawaiian back walking in our Kua Lua Class requires tremendous balance. We utilize gathered stones to sensitize the feet for the purpose of not only learning mastery of balance but also to allow the feet to “feel” through the tissues as the hands feel. We also gather bamboo sticks to assist in supporting the connection to the body while using your feet.

Registration Fee is $4200 for all courses and lodging.

Registration Fee is $3300 for students not needing accommodations.

A Deposit of $1500 will secure your space and the balance will be due one month prior to arrival.
